
On the 12th of December, 2024, a successful WAD event was held in Omuthiya, organized and led by regional support groups. A powerful gathering of over 300 people marched through the community, sharing vital information on HIV/AIDS and human rights with onlookers. As part of the effort to reduce barriers to access, 6,000 condoms were distributed, supporting the the national goal of achieving an AIDS-free generation by 2030. The march was led under the empowering slogan, “Take the Right Path to End HIV/AIDS.”
The event was hosted in collaboration with the Regional AIDS Coordinating Committee and featured speakers from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the VMMC Program, Project Hope Namibia, the Oshikoto Regional Council, Flame, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Poverty Eradication, the National Federation of People with Disabilities in Namibia, and the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and National Service. Presentations during the event addressed critical health topics, including gender-based violence, HIV prevention, treatment and adherence, as well as the ongoing fight against stigma and discrimination.
